Retrosternal dislocation of the clavicle: an important injury easily missed.

چکیده
Dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint is an uncommon injury. The anterior displacement is well recognized but posterior displacement is much more unusual, one per 1600 cases of shoulder trauma (Rowe & Marble, 1958). Early diagnosis is important as this affects ease of reduction and awareness ofpossible damage to the great vessels in the mediastinum. We report two cases where the diagnosis was missed.

Retrosternal dislocation of the clavicle associated with a traumatic pneumothorax.
Retrosternal dislocation of the clavicle is a rare injury that is easily overlooked. Significant complications can occur both immediately following the initial injury and in the long term. We report a case of a young male in which the medial aspect of the clavicle was dislocated deep into the pleura abutting the aortic arch. Knowledge of these injuries allows for early detection and interventio...
متن کاملAtraumatic retrosternal dislocation of the clavicle.
Atraumatic retrosternal dislocation of the clavicle is an exceedingly rare event and three out of four previously reported cases lack any radiological evidence. We report the case of a 30-year-old male patient who presented an atraumatic retrosternal dislocation of the clavicle without a history of previous injury and underlying pathology. The diagnosis was delayed and established by a CT scan ...

Retrosternal dislocation of the clavicle is an uncommon injury which may affect the mediastinal structures in a life-threatening way. Therefore, computed tomography is mandatory. Manipulation in the acute situation is the treatment of choice. In case of failure or old dislocation, open reduction with stabilization of the joint is required. The literature on this subject has been reviewed and an...
متن کاملSimultaneous of Mid Third Clavicle Fracture and Type 3 Acromioclavicular Joint Dislocation; A Case Report
Simultaneous mid third clavicle fracture and acromioclavicular joint dislocation is a rare combination injury, as a result of high-energy trauma. We report a patient with a middle third clavicle fracture and ipsilateral grade three-acromioclavicular joint dislocation, which is a rare combination. The patient wanted to get back to work as soon as possible, so the fracture was fixed with recons...
متن کاملThe Operative Treatment of Bipolar Clavicular Dislocation: A Case Report
Introduction: Simultaneous bipolar dislocation of the clavicle is uncommon and unusual, although it has been documented as panclavicular dislocation, floating clavicle, and complete dislocation of the clavicle. A review of the recent literature indicated that most bipolar clavicular dislocations have been treated non-operatively. Case Report: We report the case of a 23 year polytrauma patient w...
